Hello everyone! I’m currently a frontend developer with around 3 years of work experience at a service-based company. My primary skills are in React.js, Next.js, and other modern frontend frameworks.
I’m planning to make a job switch soon and aiming for a salary package between 10-15 LPA. I could really use some advice on:
Which technical skills or side projects would help me stand out for this salary range
What companies or job portals are actively recruiting for these positions
How to make my resume and portfolio more attractive to recruiters
Any tips from people who’ve successfully made similar transitions
I made a similar jump, so here’s what worked for me. Focus hard on performance optimization and accessibility - most people skip these but hiring managers love seeing them at that pay level. Build stuff that shows you can handle messy state management and work with different APIs. Don’t just apply to big corporations. Product companies and scale-ups often pay just as well and actually care more about frontend skills. For interviews, practice frontend system design questions. I’ve seen great coders bomb because they can’t architect a frontend system. And definitely contribute to open source projects - it’s an easy way to show you write clean code and take initiative.
great question! which frameworks do you know besides react/next? have you done any freelance work? a strong freelance portfolio can really help when negotiating salary. what size company are you at now? moving from service companies to product companies usually means better opportunities.
a good portfolio is key! avoid the basic CRUD stuff - instead, focus on projects that solve real issues. got my current gig (14 LPA) by showcasing a dashboard with complex data visuals and real-time updates. also, TypeScript is a must now. dont sleep on networking - join frontend Discord/Slack groups for job leads!
