Beginner-friendly 3D modeling software recommendations for new users

Hi everyone! I need help choosing the right 3D modeling program. I work as a UX designer and use Figma and Illustrator every day for about 10 years now. Just bought a Bambu Lab A1 printer and want to get into 3D modeling to edit existing files and make new designs from scratch.

I want something that’s not too hard to start with but still powerful enough for advanced work later. Don’t want to switch programs once I get comfortable with one.

What do you think about these options?

  • Tinkercad: Already tested it. Really simple but way too basic. Good for tiny edits but I need more tools.
  • FreeCAD: Currently trying to learn it. People say it’s missing some stuff and it’s pretty hard for beginners. Think I can handle it though.
  • Onshape: Looks cool. Don’t mind that files are public but worried the free version might go away. Paid version costs too much for hobby use.
  • Plasticity: Thinking about paying for this. Even without updates after one year I’d still own it forever. But is it worth the money and learning time?
  • Fusion 360: Super popular but heard they keep taking away free features. Worried it will get worse. Is this true?

Maybe I got some facts wrong since I’m still researching. Really need your suggestions on what’s worth learning.

Thanks!
