Complex software design resources for experienced professionals

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some good resources to level up my design skills for complex software projects. Does anyone know of any blogs, YouTube channels, or other content creators who focus on designing intricate web apps?

I’ve been working on some pretty complicated stuff lately – things like betting platforms, mining software, and fintech solutions. But when I look at places like Dribbble, it’s mostly just simple landing pages and basic website designs.

Don’t get me wrong, that stuff is great for junior designers. But I’m hoping to find something more advanced that matches the kind of work I’m doing now. Any suggestions would be super helpful!

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

hey sophia, check out dan abramov’s blog ‘overreacted.io’. he dives deep into complex react concepts that are super relevant for big projects. also, the frontend masters workshops are gold for advanced stuff. they cover everything from performance optimization to state management in large apps. hope this helps!

For complex software design, I’d highly recommend checking out Martin Fowler’s work. His website and books, especially ‘Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture’, are invaluable for tackling intricate systems. Another great resource is the ‘Clean Architecture’ concept by Robert C. Martin. It provides a solid framework for designing scalable, maintainable software.

Don’t overlook conference talks either. The recordings from events like QCon and GOTO Conferences often feature in-depth discussions on advanced architectural patterns and design principles for large-scale applications. These can be particularly relevant for the types of projects you’re working on.

Lastly, consider joining a professional network like the Interaction Design Foundation. They offer courses and articles that delve into complex UX challenges, which could be beneficial for your fintech and betting platform projects.
