Hey everyone!
I’m primarily a backend developer but whenever I need to build a frontend it ends up looking terrible. I’ve been using ChatGPT Plus for simple tasks like data mapping and utility functions but haven’t really explored AI tools specifically for frontend work.
My JavaScript skills are pretty basic (just vanilla JS) and I’m not really interested in diving deep into frontend frameworks since I rarely need them. I tried using an AI coding tool recently for a dashboard project but the results were disappointing - the interface looked unprofessional and the workflow was clunky.
Can anyone suggest an AI-powered development tool that’s particularly good at generating clean, attractive user interfaces? I’m looking for something that can help create professional-looking frontends without requiring me to become a CSS expert.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!
I faced similar challenges until I discovered v0.dev by Vercel. This tool is specifically designed for creating React components with modern, visually appealing designs using Tailwind CSS. Unlike other AI tools that provide only basic HTML/CSS snippets, v0.dev delivers complete, production-ready components with real-time previews, allowing for immediate adjustments without the complexities of CSS. Additionally, I recommend Cursor IDE, which excels at transforming rough wireframes or descriptions into polished interfaces, understanding design context much more effectively than standard coding assistants. Both tools can take care of the design aspect, enabling you to concentrate on functionality.
Oh interesting! What kind of dashboards do you build? I’ve been playing around with Claude artifacts lately - it’s pretty solid for UI stuff. Have you tried it? What made your previous tool feel clunky?
bolt.new has been a game changer for me tbh. just describe what you want and it generates entire apps with decent styling out of the box. way less fiddly than trying to wrangle css yourself and the ui actually looks modern unlike most ai generated stuff
