Need advice on pricing a React/Next frontend project - is $400 reasonable for design improvements and localization?

Hi folks,

I’m a frontend developer from India and got contacted by an American company for a quick project. Want to get some opinions on my pricing.

What they need:

  • Framework: Next.js application
  • Scope: 3-4 page website
  • Design work: Clean up existing UI and make it consistent for demo purposes
  • Technical: Implement internationalization with proper file organization (probably next-i18next)
  • Delivery: 7 days
  • Client: US-based business

Quoted them $400 total. Does this sound right for the workload? Thanks for any input!

i hear ya, but honestly, $400 feels a bit cheap for what they want. i’ve seen bids around $600-800 with good experience. just sharing my thoughts!

You’re seriously underpricing yourself. I just finished a similar Next.js project with i18n for a US client and charged $650 for the same scope. Setting up internationalization properly takes a full day - organizing file structures, testing multiple languages, the works. And trust me, design consistency work always balloons once you start finding all the little UI issues. US companies expect to pay market rates for quality work. Break down your quote by component instead of throwing out one low number - show them what they’re actually getting.
