Preparing for a frontend role interview at an online trading firm

Hey everyone, I’m getting ready for an interview with an online trading company. It’s for a frontend/UI engineering job. I’ve heard this place doesn’t do the usual leetcode stuff. Instead, they might ask trivia or have you fix code errors.

I’m not sure how to prep for this kind of interview. Any tips? Should I focus on brushing up on general frontend knowledge? Or maybe practice finding and fixing bugs in code samples?

Also, I’m a bit worried because I’ve read some not-so-great reviews about their interview process. Some folks mentioned dealing with unfriendly interviewers. How do you handle it if you end up with a grumpy interviewer? I’d love to hear your experiences and advice on staying positive in that situation.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Have u considered practicing live coding? It might help with the bug-fixing part. Also, maybe look into UI/UX principles for trading platforms? As for grumpy interviewers, i’ve found that asking thoughtful questions can sometimes turn things around. what specific areas of frontend are you most excited about?

For an online trading firm’s frontend role, I’d recommend focusing on performance optimization and real-time data handling. These are crucial in trading platforms. Brush up on WebSockets, efficient DOM manipulation, and state management. Regarding interview style, prepare to explain your problem-solving process clearly. If faced with a difficult interviewer, remain composed and view it as a chance to demonstrate your ability to work under pressure. Remember, their interview approach might reflect the work environment, so use this opportunity to assess if it aligns with your preferences.

hey there! i’d say focus on nailing the fundamentals - html, css, js, and popular frameworks. brush up on common frontend bugs too. for grumpy interviewers, just stay calm and professional. remember, you’re evaluating them as much as they’re evaluating you. good luck!
