I’ve been studying web development for a while now and recently began job hunting. However, I’m getting anxious after seeing how advanced AI has become at creating complete user interfaces and even complex applications like puzzle games with just text instructions.
While I understand these AI systems are designed as development tools, it seems like they’re advancing incredibly quickly. I’m worried they might eventually replace human developers rather than just assist them.
My long-term goal is to start my own business, but for now I really need steady employment to support myself and gain experience.
I’m genuinely curious - do you think web development is still a solid career choice going into 2025? Or should I consider switching to a different field?

The shift is toward devs who know how to use AI tools effectively, not replacing them entirely. AI can’t understand what clients really want, make big architecture decisions, or maintain messy legacy codebases. The devs getting hired embrace AI to boost their productivity while bringing solid problem-solving skills and business sense. Your plan to start a business is actually a huge advantage - that entrepreneurial mindset is what separates the valuable developers from those who’ll get left behind by AI disruption.
don’t stress about it. I’ve been coding for 8 years and AI feels more like a solid assistant than a replacement. clients still need someone who gets their business logic and can debug when stuff breaks. plus AI can’t handle those awkward client meetings lol
just curious - have you actually tried working with AI tools? I mean really building something with them? they handle boilerplate work well but still need human creativity for complex stuff. what projects worry you most about AI taking over?
