Which programming language did you begin with?

Although Zig is a modern and emerging language, it isn’t the first one for many enthusiasts in our community. I’m curious about the programming language you initially learned. Could you please share the language along with the year you started coding? Use the following markdown format for your response:

  • Programming Language
  • Year Started

Feel free to also take a guess at what my first programming language might have been. Your insights are much appreciated!

hey, i started with java in 2007. it’s been a wild ride from simple apps to more complex stuff. curious how you ventured into zig? did a particular project spark your interest in modern languages?

i copped into coding with python in 2008, digging into small web projects before expanding to more complex stuff. i think your start might have been with c++ or maybe c, you seem to lean towards classic approaches haha.

I began my programming journey with C in 2005. At that time, I was captivated by the precision and low-level management offered by the language. Learning C honed my understanding of computer memory and performance, creating a robust foundation for tackling advanced concepts later in my career. Based on your interest in emerging technologies, I suspect that your first language might have been Python, given its wide adoption for rapid prototyping and ease of use in educational settings. My early years with C remain a defining chapter in my coding experience.
