Which UI frontend do you recommend and what makes it great?

I’m trying to decide on a good frontend interface for my setup and would love to hear what everyone is using. There are so many options out there like ES-DE, Daijisho, Beacon and tons of others that I keep hearing about.

I’m curious about which one you guys have settled on as your go-to choice. What made you pick that particular frontend over all the alternatives? Was it the ease of setup, the visual design, specific features, or maybe just how stable it runs?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences with different frontends and any pros or cons you’ve noticed. Thanks for any advice you can share!

Tried a bunch of frontends over the past couple years and settled on ES-DE. What sold me was the rock-solid metadata scraping and how it handles mixed ROM collections without needing tons of manual tweaking. Other frontends I tested either choked on certain ROM formats or constantly needed adjustments to get box art working right. ES-DE just works once you set it up. Sure, it’s not as pretty as some alternatives, but the stability and system support are worth it. Runs great even on weaker hardware too, which was important for me.

interesting choices! i’m torn between a few too. what hardware are you runing? some frontends eat way more resources than others. do you want something polished out of the box, or don’t mind tweaking it to get it perfect?

i’ve been on daijisho for a long time, and it’s super cool! the customizing is top-notch, you can make it look however you like. setup can be a bit of a pain at first, but after that, adding new systems is easy as pie. runs smoothly too, no real issues.
